In commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023, Gracious Gifters Foundation in partnership with Mimi’s Little Hands reached out to over 200 young girls and women in the upper Muea’s quarter three and four on the 2nd of June 2023 with the message of message of menstruation which is a normal biological occurrence for every woman.
Menstrual Hygiene Day celebrated every May 28th is a chance for every organization and individual to highlight the importance of menstrual care, and raise awareness about issues faced by those who do not have access to sanitary products, safe and hygiene spaces for use.
The menstrual hygiene campaign took place under the umbrella of the Red Pride Project with objective to;
- Create awareness about menstruation as a normal biological occurrence in every woman
- Educate the young girls and women on how they can maintain hygiene before, during and after menstruation and how poor menstrual hygiene can affect their health.
- Demystify taboos surrounding the discussion about menstruation in the communities
- Educate parents on the importance of ensuring that their children especially the girls get pre-menstrual education.
The campaign ended with the distribution of sanitary pads the young girls and women in the Muea community that can last them for 2 months.
